About Atte Ka Halwa & Kadah Parashad Atte Ka Halwa or Atte ka Sheera is wheat flour pudding. Karad Parshad, or Degh as it is traditionally called, is a blessed sanctified offering which is distributed to the congregation of people in the Sikh temple (gurudwara).
Kadah parshad is mostly made with wheat flour but sometimes it is prepared with suji or semolina instead, especially when prepared at home. You can garnish the atte ka halwa with a combination of chopped nuts of your choice but kadah parshad is always served plain. Also, proper rituals are carried out while preparing kadah parshad to maintain the sanctity of the offering these among them being of paramount importance viz keeping the head covered while it is made, reciting the Holy Bani (verses) and remaining bare feet while preparing it. A ratio of 1:1:1:2 for desi ghee : whole wheat flour : sugar : water is a standard ratio for making aate ka halwa/kada parshad. Ingredients
