Vada Pav (Potato Fritter In Bread Bun) Recipe
About Vada Pav - Mumbai's Street Food
Vada pav is Mumbai's most famous street food - the poor man's food at one time. Even shops sell thses and it is a favorite with children and adults alike, poor or rich.
Vada pav actually consists of 2 things:
Vada, also called Batata vada, is a potato fritter or round patty &
Pav which is basically Indian bread, a soft bread that is a speciality of Mumbai.
The Vada is sandwiched in between the slit Pav whose two slices are layered with Green chutney & Red chutney and served with green chillies.
Vada pav is a breakfast food and a snack food and even a quick lunch that is usually had with a glass of hot tea.
On to the recipe to see how vada pav is made. To make the Vada, we will make the potato filling mixture first and then make the batter with which the vada (round balls of the potato mixture) will be coated. Then the vada will be fried.
