About Moongre Ka Raita

Moongre are moong dal fritters. They are a traditional Punjabi food and areprepared in a number of ways both as a vegetable and as a raita.

Moongre are easily available in North Indian grocery shops and today we are preparing a very easy raita recipe - Moongre ka raita.

Do try this different but delicious raita and give your feedback. My video above shows how moongre ka raita is prepared.


Ingredients

  • moongre (moong dal fritters) - 1/2 katori/cup
  • dahi (yogurt) - 2 katori
  • black salt - 1/4 tsp
  • black pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  • bhuna jeera (roasted cumin seeds) powder
  • salt to taste - 1/4 tsp or to taste

Methos To Make Moongre Ka Raita

  1. Soak the moongre in water for 30 to 45 minutes or till they are soft. Squeeze out the water.
  2. Whisk the yogurt till smooth.
  3. Add the moongre and spices and mix well.
  4. Garnish with a little roasted jeera powder, some red chilli powder and some cilantro.
  5. Serve chilled alone as a healthy snack or with meals.
