About ShrikhandShrikhand is a traditional dessert of Maharastra & Gujarat states of India. In fact it is the main dessert of these states.
The main ingredient in this dessert is hung yogurt which is yogurt that has been hung in a muslin cloth for some hours to drain out the whey, the watery part of the yogurt. Since elaichi or cardamom is added to shrikhand it is called elaichi shrikhand. The hung yogurt is called 'chakka' in India. A variation of shrikhand popular in Maharastra is Amrakhand which is made by blending mango pulp with shrihand. Do try this delicious dessert.
